insitu collective began as a project space at Kurfürstenstrasse 21–22, Berlin-Schöneberg. From 2012 – 2017, insitu collective conceptualised its program in annual Cycles, which provided a thematic focus for the exhibitions and events of the year.
For the inaugural year Cycle I presented 7 episodes that dealt with fundamental questions surrounding the production of art. insitu collective focused its Cycle II on the topic of ‘relationships, networks and connections‘, establishing a series of frameworks for invited artists and curators to respond to. In Cycle III, insitu collective developed group exhibitions as fictional characters, providing visitors with an intimate encounter with the character, creating the feeling that one not only just met a new person but entered into their private world. Cycle IV, an ambitious three exhibition cycle, was dealing with the potential of time travel. Described as Corridors each exhibition took visitors on an unfolding narrative through a significant moment related to scientific discoveries or notorious events in history.
Since 2017, insitu collective has worked nomadically, creating individual exhibitions for a variety of international institutions, including Kunsthal Viborg, Denmark; MeetFactory, Prague and Casino – Forum d´Art Contemporain, Luxembourg.
